All Dragons in House of the Dragon — Power Rankings 2026
The dragons of House of the Dragon range from the colossal Vhagar (nearly 200 years old) to the tiny hatchling Morning. Here are the current power rankings based on combined combat stats: 1) Vhagar (overall 83.7), 2) Cannibal (86.1 raw, penalized for being riderless), 3) Vermithor the Bronze Fury (81.5), 4) Caraxes the Blood Wyrm (79.5, boosted by Daemon's legendary bond), 5) Meleys the Red Queen (79.6). These rankings shift dramatically based on rider bond, terrain, and condition — which is exactly what this simulator calculates.
The Dance of the Dragons Explained
The Dance of the Dragons is the Targaryen civil war depicted in House of the Dragon. It pits the Blacks (Rhaenyra's faction) against the Greens (Aegon II's faction) in a war that kills most of Westeros' dragons. Key battles include Rook's Rest (Meleys vs Vhagar + Sunfyre), the Battle of the Gullet (multiple dragons over the Stepstones fleet), and the climactic Battle Above the Gods Eye (Vhagar vs Caraxes). Season 3 covers the most devastating phase of this war.
Battle of the Gullet — House of the Dragon Season 3
The Battle of the Gullet is one of the deadliest dragon engagements in Westerosi history. Multiple dragons — including Seasmoke, Vermithor, and others — clash above the Triarchy fleet in the Narrow Sea. In our simulator, you can recreate this battle using the "The Gullet" terrain which boosts agility by 25% and fire by 10% while reducing the size advantage of larger dragons. The fog of war setting adds the chaos that defined this real battle.
How the Dragon Battle Simulator Works
This simulator uses a weighted scoring system based on five core combat stats: Size (28%), Fire Output (24%), Agility (18%), Armor (16%), and Ferocity (14%). The base score is modified by rider bond (Wild 0.7x to Legendary 1.3x), dragon condition (Prime to Critically Wounded), terrain effects (9 battlefields with unique modifiers), and optional Fog of War (seeded ±8% variance for realistic uncertainty).
Dragons from House of the Dragon — Complete List
Our simulator includes all 16 named dragons from the Dance of the Dragons: Ancient tier — Vhagar, Vermithor. Battle-Hardened — Caraxes, Meleys, Silverwing, Sunfyre, Dreamfyre, Seasmoke, Syrax. Young — Tessarion, Moondancer, Stormcloud, Morning. Wild — Cannibal, Sheepstealer, Grey Ghost. Each has unique stats calibrated from George R.R. Martin's Fire & Blood.
Game of Thrones Dragons vs House of the Dragon Dragons
While Drogon, Rhaegal, and Viserion from Game of Thrones were impressive, they were adolescents compared to the Dance-era dragons. Vhagar in House of the Dragon is nearly the size of Balerion the Black Dread — far larger than any dragon Daenerys ever rode. The Dance of the Dragons features more dragons in active combat than any other period in Westerosi history, making it the ultimate era for dragon vs dragon battles.
Rider Bond — Why It Changes Everything
A dragon without a rider fights at only 70% effectiveness. A legendary bond (Daemon + Caraxes, Aemond + Vhagar, Rhaenys + Meleys) amplifies power by 30%. This is why the Cannibal — despite having the highest ferocity and being enormous — can lose to a smaller dragon with a skilled rider. The rider provides tactical direction, coordinated attacks, and emotional reinforcement that transforms instinct into precision warfare.
House of the Dragon Season 3 Release — What to Expect
Season 3 of House of the Dragon covers the bloodiest phase of the civil war. Major events include the Fall of King's Landing, the Storming of the Dragonpit, multiple dragon deaths, and the legendary confrontation between Daemon Targaryen on Caraxes and Aemond Targaryen on Vhagar above the Gods Eye. Use this simulator to predict outcomes before each episode airs.
